Fridays in Dubai just got a glitter-soaked upgrade as GITANO Dubai transforms its iconic GYPSY DISCO into a full-scale dinner-to-dance spectacle, where elevated modern Mexican cuisine, immersive performances, and glittering nightlife converge to create a multi-sensory evening unlike any other.

The night begins in GITANO’s jungle-inspired dining space, where guests can indulge in à la carte and curated tasting menus, paired with signature beverages designed to ignite the evening ahead. The Chic Tasting Menu is a vibrant journey through flavour, starting with creamy Guacamole and crisp crudité, followed by delicate Yellowfin Tuna Botana with smoky chipotle mayo, and Hamachi Tostada layered with grilled avocado and fermented chillies. Highlights include the slow-cooked Short Rib Birria with a rich beef consommé, clay pot Spicy Rice topped with Crispy Chicken, and a sweet finish of golden Churros with chocolate and caramel.

For those seeking indulgence, the Glam Tasting Menu turns up the luxury with dishes such as poached King Crab crowned with Caviar, Wagyu Tenderloin tartare on crisp tostadas, and Seabass Nogada with nutty macha sauce and toasted almonds. The journey continues with Al Pastor Lamb Chops paired with roasted pineapple, and closes on a decadent trio of desserts including the corn-infused Tres Leches cake, Churros, and GITANO’s signature Coco Gitano.

As anticipation builds, the room comes alive with ritual-inspired performances and live dancers, setting the stage for the night’s dramatic transformation. At 11:00 PM, lights drop, energy surges, and the signature GITANO moment takes over, a spectacular fusion of strobes, sound, and disco glamour that propels the evening into a high-energy celebration.

Music flows seamlessly from soulful grooves over dinner to nu-disco edits, global rhythms, and modern house remixes as the night unfolds. Beneath the shimmer of the disco ball, the dancefloor pulses with free-spirited energy and bohemian-chic vibes, making GYPSY DISCO the ultimate dinner-and-dance destination along Dubai’s J1 Beach.

Every detail is designed to be lived, remembered, and shared, from glamorous welcomes and inspired décor to luxe beverages like Disco Diva and Burn Baby. Guests can even take home a complimentary Polaroid keepsake, capturing their night in true GITANO style. With its blend of bohemian glamour, and intimate yet energetic flow, GYPSY DISCO is where Dubai’s cosmopolitan crowd comes to see and be seen.

Next to online dating profiles, cover letters may just be the scariest things to write. And the stakes are equally high.

“Countless smart job seekers have never heard back because their cover letters sabotaged them,” says Paul Freiberger, a career coach based in San Mateo, California and author of When Can You Start? Ace the Job Interview and Get Hired.

We asked Freiberger and other career experts to weigh in on what they think are the most fatal cover letter flaws. The top five follow.

Avoid these, and you’ll have a better chance of landing the interview.

Mistake #1: Not sending a letter at all
“The resume is data, but the cover letter is you,” says Freiberger. “It’s your voice. And it highlights aspects of your career that might otherwise get lost in the resume.”

A good cover letter allows you to show very quickly why you’re the right person for the job, explain special circumstances like gaps in employment, and mention any personal references you might have.

“The only time you shouldn’t send one is if a company asks you not to,” says Sarasota, Florida-based career coach Phyllis Mufson. “Otherwise, they’ll think you don’t know how to follow instructions. ”

Most experts suggest including the cover letter in the body of an email as well as a PDF attachment to ensure that it will be read.

Mistake #2: Addressing your letter to no one
The days of “Dear Hiring Manager” and “To Whom it May Concern” are over.

“Job postings may not always include the names of hiring managers, but you should always go the extra mile and try to find them,” says Wilmington, Delaware.-based Michael Lan, a senior resume consultant at resume writing service Resume Writer Direct.
 Front Office Job Delhi India

Not using a real name implies that you’re not very resourceful. All it takes is a few minutes of online sleuthing or a few calls to the company’s HR department to find a name and take the “robot speak” out of your salutation.

Mistake #3: Doing an obvious copy and paste
Sure, it’s exhausting to personalize each and every cover letter. But that’s what you have to do if you want to get hired.

“Generic cover letters send a message that you’re not that interested,” says Miriam Salpeter, Atlanta social media and job search consultant and author of Social Networking for Career Success.

Stumped by the blank page? Mufson suggests listing the job description on one side of a page and where your qualifications match up on the other. That’s a great place to start for a short and simple cover letter.

Mistake #4: Putting your reader to sleep
“Without writing a novel, try to say something personal to make your letter stand out,” Salpeter suggests. “If you’re applying to work at a company that makes running shoes, and your first pair of special shoes came from them, mention it.”

When in doubt, think of your cover letter as your elevator pitch. It’s your one chance to “hook” the reader before they move on to a vast pile of applicants after you. “The cover letter creates the first impression,” says Frieberger. “It’s you. It’s your voice. It’s the prelude to the interview.”

So worry less about sounding like everyone else, and take the opportunity to show who you are and why you’re the right person for the job.

Mistake #5: Forgetting to prufreed proofread
“You'd be surprised how many of the cover letters I read that are filled with simple typos and spelling or grammatical errors,” says Lan.

Experts say that’s the kind of thing that can get a perfectly decent candidate thrown into the “reject” pile, since it shows the person doesn’t exhibit a high standard for his or her own work.

Always proofread your resume multiple times and have your friends or family members have a read through before pressing “send.”

That simple move just might keep you in the game — and get you one step closer to landing your next great job.

It is now two years since Malawi was rocked by its biggest government corruption scandal in history. The systematic looting of public coffers by civil servants, private contractors and politicians saw them steal US$31 million from government coffers.

It is estimated that about 35% of government funds have been stolen over the past decade. The impoverished country’s national budget for 2013-14 was about US$1.3 billion (630.5 billion Kwachas) at today’s exchange rate.

But has the country learnt anything from its biggest scandal that saw donors withdraw support?

The University of Malawi’s Blessings Chinsinga recently pointed out that:

… efforts to root out corruption do not stick because the existing institutional milieu makes it almost impossible to introduce changes that can effectively stamp out corruption.
The observation is instructive in that the scandal spans two political administrations. Malawi was led by the late president Bingu wa Mutharika in 2004 and the scandal unravelled on the watch of Bingu wa Mutharika in 2013.

Fertile ground for corruption

A number of factors contribute to the current state of affairs.

There is no clear distinction between a party in power and government activities in Malawi, unlike in established democracies. In Malawi, the party in power is the de facto government.

In Malawi, a party in power calls itself boma (a government). Ordinary Malawians look at abuse of state resources by those in power as acceptable. It is almost impossible to tell a party in power from the government.

Even more serious is the fact that political parties in Malawi are not mandated to declare their sources of funding. This breeds corruption and fosters abuse of public resources. This is not unique to Malawi. But in countries like Botswana, hailed as one of the model democracies on the continent, they at least have a debate on political party funding. Debates are also taking place in Nigeria and South Africa, respectively the continent’s largest and second-largest economies.

Another contributing factor is that after 21 years of multiparty democracy, governance in Malawi remains heavily centralised. Although the country has been independent since 1964, it only became a democracy in 1994.

Until then, it had been a one-party state decreed by its first post-colonial leader Kamuzu Banda, who banned political parties. He became president for life in 1971. Since 1994, the country has had local government representation for only six years – from 1999 to 2004 and from 2014 to now.

The central government has been reluctant to relinquish some of its powers. The president makes even the smallest of decisions and undertakes mundane tasks that should be reserved for line ministries. This encourages a system of patronage.

Lastly, government contracts, tenders and board memberships all go to sympathisers of the party in power and not necessarily to the best bidder or the most competent applicant. Government sympathisers or ruling party members get contracts regardless of their levels of competence.

This unfairly benefits the incumbents and weakens opposition parties. Businesspeople are afraid of funding opposition parties because they could lose state contracts and other business opportunities.

Scale and depth of corruption exposed

Malawians have always known that corruption is rife in the country. But the sheer size of the Cashgate scandal, both in terms of the amount and the wide number of people involved, has shown how deeply rooted the problem is.

The involvement of the country’s political class in the scandal is in stark contradiction to their penchant for standing on political campaign podiums promising to fight corruption with all their might.

Most of the people implicated in the Cashgate scandal were either members of the then-ruling People’s Party or its sympathisers.

There is an unwritten rule in Malawi that successful businesspeople align themselves with the governing party in order to protect their property and gain more contracts.

An aunt of Oswald Lutepo, thus far the main Cashgate convict and serving 11 years in jail, was heard in court lamenting that her nephew was advised that he did not need to join politics as he was already a successful businessman and multimillionaire. At the time of his arrest Lutepo was deputy director of recruitment in the People’s Party.

The aunt’s lament is instructive: people join politics in Malawi mainly to make money. In terms of this logic, the 37-year-old Lutepo was already a millionaire. He should have stayed out of it.

But he could not escape the lure of more riches that flow from being close to those in power. He knew the unwritten rule for success in Malawi only too well:

If you are unsuccessful, support the ruling party because this is where opportunities are.
Malawi is still learning to cope without support from donors and the jury is still out on whether it has learnt anything from its biggest scandal. A recent article in African Arguments underlines the hopeless feeling that Cashgate has left among most Malawians:

Malawi’s self-enriching officials need to know they will be judged not just by an imperfect judicial system, but by generation upon future generation of their compatriots.

The Fort of Jaigarh is located on the Cheel ka Teela (meaning Hill of Eagles) in the Aravalli hill rangesfrom where the Maota Lake and the Amber Fort can be overlooked in Jaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The Fort along with the palace complex have been named after Jai Singh II who buit this fort.

The fort has a very similar type of structure as to that of the Amber Fort, and is popularly called as the Victory Fort. It comprises of 3 km length across the north-south direction while it is 1 km broad. The fort has cannon whose name is “Jaivana”, and got created in the precincts of the fort and was at that time the largest cannon of the world on wheels. The complex of the palace has Laxmi Vilas, Vilas Mandir, Lalit Mandir and Aram Mandir found in the fort itself having well- maintained gardens where the royal family used to live, the Shubhat Niwas which is the assembly hall of the soldiers. There is a museum as well as an armoury. The forts of Jaigarh and the Amber Fort have connections through subterranean passages and are regarded as just one complex.

Architecture
The literal meaning of Jaigarh is `Victory Fort' and was constructed between the 15th-18th century, and lies 15 km away from Jaipur, among the strewn rocks, stone ramparts and hills covered with thorn-scrub ,its forbidding stone ramparts which can be viewed from Jaipur city.

There is a steep road going towards the major gate, i.e. the Dungar Darwaza, having a beautiful view.Start with the biggest draw of Jaigarh- the Jaivana, which is regarded as the world's greatest unique cannon on wheels. The Jaivana got constructed in the foundry of Jaigarh in the year 1720, and only the barrel has a weight of around 50 tons. As per the belief of people, Jaivana had been fired just once. The inspections of cannon have proved that it has been fired many a times.

One can wander around and see the ramparts peering down the flaws of boiling oil and guns or even the broad channels of water can be viewed. These had been a part of an efficient system meant for harvesting the rainwater, taking water in from all along the hills and then taking it to the underground tanks of Jaigarh. The biggest of the tanks had the capacity of storing 60,00,000 gallons of water.

The armoury chamber was having a great display of shields, swords, guns, 50 kg cannon ball and muskets. There are pictures of ancient photographs of maharajas of Jaipur such as, Major Genral Man Singh II and Sawai Bhawani Singh who gave their service to the Indian Army or senior officers.

The museum lies to the left of Awami Gate and displays photographs of the Jaipur's Royalty, artefacts and stamps including a circular package of cards.

The first batch of Indian pilgrims for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through the new Nathu La route was flagged off on Thursday by Sikkim Governor Shrinivas Patil and Chief Minister Pawan Chamling.

India and China signed on September 18 last year a bilateral agreement on the alternative Nathu La route for the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to China last month, announced in Beijing that the Nathu La Pass would be operational in June.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday flagged off the first batch of 50 members from New Delhi travel which reached here a day later. Ten pilgrims from the batch will not take part in the onward journey due to illness.

A commemorative special postal cover was also released to mark the occasion.

Chamling in his speech credited the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre for the opening of the new route for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.

The new route through the Himalayan pass of Nathu La 4,000 metres above sea level will facilitate more comfortable travel for the Indian pilgrims, especially for the elderly, by buses compared to the existing route via Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand.

Opening of this route is also an important milestone in diplomatic relations between India and China.

In all, 250 yatris would travel via the Nathu La route, in batches of 50 each. Eighteen batches of 60 people each would take the old route through Lipulekh Pass.

Kailash Mansarovar is believed to be the seat of Hindu god Shiva. Pilgrims travel at high altitudes of 19,500 feet. The traditional trekking route is inhospitable and rugged.

Hundreds go on the pilgrimage every year, with a part of the journey overseen by Chinese authorities.
